For me, pet care isn't just a job, it’s about understanding each animal's unique personality and needs, making sure they feel happy and loved. While I adore cats and have raised/ rescued two of my own, my deepest experience is with dogs. I specialise in dogs who require "extra" care, including: • Senior Dogs: gentle senior routines, administering time-sensitive medications. • Rescue & Reactive Dogs: I understand that some dogs cannot socialise with other dogs (or sometimes even other people). I have experience managing reactive pups safely. Before I accept a booking I would love to know about any health issues or medications, if your pet is reactive or sensitive to anything in particular (even if it’s loud noises or having their pic taken) and also one thing your pet absolutely loves - head scratches, tummy rubs etc
This is completely up to you! If your dog requires extra settling time let me know! If you have booked a 30 minute walk - we will be walking for those 30 mins and I will allow 5-10 mins either side to collect and return your pup :)
My normal policy is that beforehand - the owners will give me the pets insurance and vet details just in case the incident is severe and I can rush them straight there. Alternatively if something minor happens like a tick or small injury that doesn’t require a vet visit I will call you immediately and you we can discuss if you’d like me to assist in any way further :)
If he or she takes their time to warm up to new people, I will focus on sticking to their normal routine so they are not too much out of their comfort zone. I do not walk dogs off lead in public spaces and I use the “walk on” command and treats if absolutely neccesary to distract reactive dogs if they are lunging at dogs walking past. I have taken care of highly reactive dogs in the past and understand that a firm but calm approach is what works best as dogs can often feel your anxiety.
