Why is there a hold on my statement?

A hold is a bank reservation. Your bank shows it as "pending". The money hasn't left your account; it's set aside for the business's decision.

Two things can happen. The business accepts and the pending amount becomes a charge. Or they decline (or don't answer within 48 hours) and the hold is released — banks usually clear it within 1–3 business days.

Two holds for one booking? In the rare case someone else's request for the same time landed a moment before yours, your hold is released immediately and you're asked to pick another time.
